About Travis

Cybersecurity executive advisor, founder, and community builder with a long track record across enterprise security, resilience, incident response, and industry leadership.

Travis Barlow — cybersecurity executive advisor and founder of AtlSecCon

Travis Barlow has spent 26 years doing the hard work of making organizations — and the security community itself — genuinely safer. He is currently Vice President of Enterprise Resilience Services at CyberShell, where he leads advisory programs designed to help leadership teams detect, respond to, and recover from the security incidents that define the modern threat landscape.

His track record is specific: more than 600 incident response engagements across industries including financial services, healthcare, government, and critical infrastructure. That experience shapes everything about how he advises clients — not from frameworks and theory, but from what actually happens when organizations are under attack and under pressure.

Before CyberShell, Travis served as a Partner at KPMG Canada, where he advised some of the country's most complex organizations on cybersecurity strategy, risk management, and executive readiness. Prior to KPMG, he held senior executive roles at GoSecure, including Senior Vice President of Advanced Security Services and General Manager of GoSecure Atlantic Inc., building and scaling one of Canada's most respected managed security practices.

But the work Travis is most often recognized for has nothing to do with a corporate title.

In 2011 Travis founded AtlSecCon — the Atlantic Security Conference — because Atlantic Canada had no venue for the security community to gather, learn, and build relationships. He started it with 42 attendees and a conviction that great security education should not require a corporate travel budget or a seat at an enterprise table. Fifteen years later, AtlSecCon draws approximately 1,700 attendees annually and is recognized as one of Canada's most inclusive and community-driven security events.

He also founded the Halifax Area Security Klatch (HASK), a monthly community meetup that has kept the Atlantic security conversation active between conferences for over a decade.

Travis's philosophy is straightforward: resilience is not a product you buy or a policy you file. It is a culture you build deliberately, a community you invest in consistently, and a discipline that requires constant practice. His advisory work, his speaking, and his community leadership are all expressions of the same belief.
